"I was thrilled to have Jess play KJ in "Milkwater" - I had worked with her on a previous film and was so impressed with her performance that I offered her the role of KJ before I'd even finished writing the script. It's important to me to have queer actors inhabiting queer roles, both from the standpoint of representation and because I think lived experience brings incalculable depth to LGBT+ characters. Jess brought both believability and humor to the role - it takes a strong comedic actor to make the straight-man character funny, and I knew that Jess would be able to pull it off beautifully."
